14 Ton Class

Series Overview

A common mid-size choice balancing reach and transportability for canal and pond work.

About This Class

The general-purpose choice

The 14 tonne class is the size most operators end up with when the work is varied, and there is a reason for that. It has enough reach and cycle capacity to be genuinely productive on canal and pond work, while remaining manageable to move between sites without the logistics becoming a project of their own.

Where it fits

Canal desilting, pond and lagoon maintenance, plantation drainage networks, general marsh work, and flood-response clearance. If a contractor is buying one amphibious machine to cover a range of jobs rather than specifying for a single contract, this class is usually where the conversation lands.

The transport threshold

This is where dismantling starts to enter the picture. Depending on the pontoon configuration specified, a machine in this class may or may not travel assembled. That question is worth settling explicitly at order stage rather than assuming, because it determines whether every mobilisation needs crane time.

If you move sites often, specifying a narrower pontoon configuration that stays road-legal can be worth more over a year than the extra stability of a wider one.

Where it runs out

Deep open water and long extended fronts. At this weight, fitting a substantially extended front leaves little counterweight margin, and stability at reach becomes the constraint rather than reach itself. Jobs that need both depth and reach point upward in the range.
