Processing at the point of demolition
A hydraulic crusher closes jaws onto concrete and masonry, fracturing it and shearing the reinforcement. Processing where the structure falls, rather than hauling intact sections away, is what makes it economic — haulage volume drops sharply and the rebar separates for recycling.
Sizing it
- Jaw opening must exceed the largest section you intend to process. Undersized jaws mean repositioning on every single bite, which destroys cycle time.
- Crushing force needs checking against the concrete grade, not against a generic "concrete" figure. Modern high-strength reinforced sections are a different problem from old mass concrete.
- Weight at height is the governing constraint when the crusher goes on a high-reach front, and it is much lower than the same machine's ground-level rating.
- Rotation is close to essential. Fixed jaws force the machine to reposition constantly to present the tool correctly.
