Rollers carry the machine's weight along the track chain. On amphibious undercarriages they run submerged in abrasive silt, so seal condition matters as much as the roller shell itself.
When to replace
Replace when shell wear reaches the manufacturer's limit or when a seal has failed and the roller has lost its oil — a dry roller destroys the chain it runs on.
Ordering
Undercarriage parts are not universally interchangeable between machine classes. When ordering, send the machine class and, where possible, a photograph of the existing part and any casting marks on it. That is considerably more reliable than a part number alone, since numbering schemes differ between suppliers and change over time.
Why amphibious undercarriages wear faster
A dry-land undercarriage sheds abrasive material. A submerged one does not — silt stays in the running gear and works as a grinding paste. Operators moving from conventional machines are routinely surprised by the parts consumption. Planning for it, and holding the fast-moving items on site, costs less than the downtime does.
